Jason Quick is an innovative guitarist, composer, and bandleader in contemporary music with a rust belt edge, immersing himself in music and process to create projects that navigate dynamic paths through genre and style.
The desire to keep moving ahead is the philosophy behind Quick’s performing and composing. To keep moving ahead, developing his craft, connecting and engaging with musicians, all while pursuing the path of creative exploration and presentation.
Quick performs his original jazz compositions with his group, Quick Trio across the Midwest and released 2 recordings: A Few More Seconds (2015) and Trio Toledo (2013).
Quick also performs with his band Quickness, whose performances and recordings feature original tunes in rock/blues/stomp/funk grooves. CD releases by Quickness: The Avocado (2010) and Amateur Mind Control (2018).
In the world of classical concert music, he is a composer whom has recent performances of his work: In June 2019: his work 2 Pieces for Violin and Piano at the famed Walden School Creative Musician Retreat. August 2019 his work Tangerine Strings for string quartet at GlasSalon during 4(19) Fest in Toledo.
Quick has a Master’s Degree from Bowling Green State University in Guitar Performance and a Bachelor’s Degree in Jazz Studies from Wayne State University.
Jason lives in Toledo, Ohio with his wife Sarah and their two rescue dogs, Willow and Slide.
