The philosophy behind Quick’s performing and composing, is his desire to keep moving ahead, developing his craft, connecting and engaging with musicians, all while pursuing the path of creative exploration and presentation.
Jason Quick is an innovative guitarist, composer, and bandleader in contemporary music with a rust belt edge. Quick immerses himself in music and process to create projects that navigate genres and styles. Jason regularly performs at venues, clubs, concert series, and festivals throughout the Midwest and has played/recorded in New Orleans.
Jason’s two main projects are Quick Trio and Quickness. Both groups feature Quick’s original compositions and tunes.

Jason has also frequently collaborated with New Orleans vocalist, Lisa Lynn performing together in Toledo and New Orleans. Jason collaborated with Lisa on original songs that they co-wrote and he performed on Lisa’s recording Taking My Secrets to the Grave (2012). Jason’s other collaborative projects over his career include: Urban Soundtrack (2015-present), Microphonics (2011 to present), Stonehouse (2012-2016) for which he played bass on the recordings Back Again(2012) and This Song is About You(2015); Jeff Tucker & On the Beach (2000-present), on which played bass, guitar and organ for People & Places(2002), and making a 1 song cameo on the 2017 release, Rock and Roll Soul. Vytas & His Electic Outfit (2007-2009), playing bass and lead guitar on Space Cadet (2008).
Jason began playing guitar at age 12. He earned his Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies from Wayne State University, while also playing out around Detroit. Jason went on to receive his Masters in Music in Guitar Performance from Bowling Green State University. For over 30 years, Jason has studied his instrument and played out and jammed wherever possible. In between gigs, Jason has taught guitar and musicology, both as an adjunct professor and as a private instructor; he has had students go on to the Berklee College of Music and who regularly perform with their own projects. Quick continues to evolve as a composer with songs and styles ranging from jazz, folk, blues, and rock, to classical symphonies and string quartets.
