PROFILE

Jason Quick is a guitarist, bandleader, composer, and educator based out of Toledo, Ohio.  Quick’s namesake Trios and Quartets have featured original jazz music performances in an array of venues in Toledo, Detroit, Lansing, Ypsilanti, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Louisville and more. Festival appearances in Grand Rapids, OH, Grand Haven, MI, Defiance, Columbus, Carmel, IN. Quick Trio performance history includes a 3 year monthly third Saturday residency at Wesley’s Bar.  Quick Quartet plays packed house performances at Toledo’s newest jazz listening room, Lucille’s Jazz Lounge. Longtime players on the Toledo music scene, Quick and his ensembles are known for memorable performances at Toledo Museum of Art, Crosby Festival of the Arts, and the Toledo Botanical Garden’s Jazz in the Garden series. As a composer and recording artist, he has written music in jazz, classical, rock, as a singer/songwriter and collaborator.

EDUCATION

Creative and Performing Arts High School, Churchill High School, Livonia, MI

Jazz band, daily rehearsals and numerous outside of school performances, theory classes, private lessons, spring musicals.

 Diploma earned.  Jazz big band participation.

Wayne State University 1991 - 1995

Bachelor’s degree in jazz studies, played and traveled with WSU Jazz Big Band, arranged music for big band, 5 guitars, 5 saxophones, various ensembles,

 

Bowling Green State University 1996- 1998

Completed master’s degree in guitar performances, composed piece for solo piano that was performed at the BGSU New Music Festival, wrote and performed original jazz music for recitals, given a graduate assistantship in order to attend.

Guitarist, Electric Bass as a sideman/hired gun.  Small venues, outdoor shows, different locations also based in Toledo, Ohio music scene, various genres.

Teaching beginning guitar players as well as more advanced students

Jazz music, singer-songwriter, classical concert music, string quartet premier performance in 2019.
